Job Opportunity - Book Keeper

BACKGROUND

The Spencer Club is a busy community amateur sports club in SW London with 2500+ members of all ages, across five sports sections, hundreds of volunteers and with excellent playing facilities.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting of The Spencer Club using QuickBooks (Premier Edition 2015) in line with the requirements of the organisation. They will also assist in the smooth running of a small friendly office.

Club Manager & Club Treasure

RESPONSIBILITIES

Main roles and responsibilities will include:

- Data entry of accounts payable and receivable using Intuit QuickBooks, Microsoft Office & Excel.

- Balancing of accounts.

- Raising sales invoices, receipts and statements.

- Administration of payroll on a monthly basis.

- Completing VAT and PAYE returns to HMRC.

- Checking company bank statements and reconciliation against accounts.

- Draft year end accounts for Treasurer approval.

- Preparing monthly reports as required by CM.

- Dealing with financial paperwork and filing.

- Answering calls and placing calls when necessary.

At present, The Spencer Club is undertaking a review of all its book keeping, accounting and treasurer roles and responsibilities from across the entire organisation. Over time we see the position of Book Keeper expanding to take on extra responsibilities and grow into a larger role, with extra hours and remuneration. ^

EXPERIENCE

As would be expected we are looking for someone with previous experience (minimum of 3 years experience) as a bookkeeper and a good working knowledge of QuickBooks (Premier Edition 2015) accounts. You must be able to demonstrate this in your covering letter and CV. You will be required to provide two references in support of your application for the post.

QUALIFICATIONS

The candidate must be educated to GCSE level (or equivalent) and hold at least a grade C in Math's & English.

A qualification or certificate in accounting or bookkeeping is essential.

A First Aid at Work certificate would be an advantage, but not essential.

REMUNERATION

This is a part time position with the possible option of working flexible hours, including evenings and/or weekends. The role is 7 hours per week, which can be spread across two shifts if required. The rate of pay is (5769 p.a. / 15.50 per hour, paid monthly, on the 23rd of each month by BACS.

The position is subject to a 3 month probationary period after which this is a permanent position.

^With the possibility of this role being expanded over time, we are ideally looking for someone who has the flexibility to grow with the organisation.
