There is the prospect of saying farewell to a real friend of Spencer, as Elaine Wishart our Club Manager has decided it is time for her to move on.
Eight years have seen her role evolve unrecognisably as the Club has developed. Elaine's work has been key to that growth and development, sometimes very public but more often quietly unseen, getting things done, making things work and sorting out problems.
Elaine will often use the description 'a real Spencer person' - for someone who understands and contributes to what makes the Club special - and she has been just that herself. Thousands of members, volunteers and their families have benefited from Elaine's energy and commitment; also our neighbours, partners and the wider local community. We all owe her a big debt of gratitude and will miss her enormously.
Elaine says "It is with great sadness that I am resigning my position. I have hugely enjoyed my time at Spencer but it is time for me to move to pastures new and for someone else to take on the exciting challenges the job offers. I hope that all members appreciate the love and regard I have for the Club. I wish Spencer all the best for the future and look forward to always being part of the Spencer family"
Elaine has kindly agreed to stay on into the New Year while the Club looks for a successor and to make the handover as smooth as possible. I am grateful for that, and it will also give us time to arrange a proper celebration of all Elaine has achieved here.
